Euphorbia horrida

Regular price $30.00

Endemic to South Africa’s lower Great Karoo, specifically the Wittepoort Mountains in the Willowmore District, this spiny shrub thrives in the semi-arid, rocky regions of the Cape Province. It is well adapted to surviving minimal water and harsh sunlight, receiving infrequent rainfall in both warm and cold months. The plant produces very small, greenish-yellow cyathia flowers, about 4mm in diameter, which bloom in the summer. Closely resembling cacti due to convergent evolution, its Latin name, horrida, means "with many prickles." When injured, it exudes a thick, white, milky sap called latex, typical of euphorbias.

Plant is in 6" pot and you will receive the exact specimen in picture.
