Tahiti Pehrson studio visit in Nevada City for upcoming exhibition at Public Land Gallery
We headed up to Tahiti Pehrson’s studio in Nevada City to preview some of the work for his upcoming exhibition The Underlying Structure at Public Land Gallery.
Tahiti Pehrson’s exhibition, The Underlying Structure, comes at a time where balance and symmetry are welcomed. The intricacies of our current state marry well with Tahiti’s complex cuts and elaborate designs in this new body of work—fortunately drawing our focus away for a moment to simply get lost in the meanderings of his incisions. Employing his skill of precision cutting, Tahiti once again astounds, providing a glimpse into his dedicated practice of meditative meticulousness, carving out geometric designs that appear familiar, yet metaphysically abstract. His work may come across as a painful obsession, but relief and satisfaction are the true emotions garnered by Tahiti’s expressions.
This is Pehrson’s first solo exhibition at Public Land Gallery and in Sacramento, CA. Over the last 16 years he has exhibited extensively both domestically and internationally, including South Korea, South Africa and Italy, with his most recent work being a permanent, large-scale installation inside San Francisco International Airport’s Terminal 3. Pehrson lives and works from his studio in Nevada City, Ca. The Underlying Structure will be on display from January 23rd - March 13th, 2021.
